Chrysostom Thirumeni: Amma is a blessing given by the Lord

Most Revered Dr. Philipose Mar Chrysostom, Mar Thoma Metropolitan—affectionately known as ‘Thirumeni’—paid a visit to Amritapuri on Friday. The bishop took a tour of the ashram, participated in the evening bhajans and then met with Amma in her room.

What a tragedy!! This is the same Bishop who baptized me.
I am not surprised however. The apostasy had long ago taken place.
The denial of the uniqueness of Christ, the fallibility of the
scriptures and syncretism is taught in the main seminary and many old
the same ideas in the Mar Thoma church.
The church needs to go back to its beginning in the Kerala Reformation
within the Orthodox Church beginning.

I think this sort of reaction feeds into fundamentalism. Going ‘back to basics’ is an attempt to hold any change at bay.
You can't take the church to a time warp or set a code of behaviour for anyone to conform to a particular value system. But even if it is going back to basics, our forefathers lived in perfect communal harmony and respect to other religions.

Susan...well said. I do not know what people like Sam above have done to our faith! Time wrap he says...sure..what type of time wrap is he holding on too?...the time wrap when your ancestors were "Brahmins"?

Chrysostom has said that he got closer to "god" after meeting with amma and hearing her bajans. Then the "father" that went with him says that he came so that others may follow him and have darshans with amma. I am sure for the sake of communal harmony he would not even ask his "amma" to condone the persecution happening in Orissa.....as he goes along enjoying bhajans. May be he and his proud followers like Sam can do so...but there is a multitude that is boiling with anger....do not under-estimate this anger.

Chrysostom should be de-robbed, and then if he does not confess his sins within the church, he should be excommunicated....just like the Church do for those who take adult baptism.

I am sorry. I thought this would lead to a meaningful discourse and not an angry debate. Please let reason combat any error of opinion (mine or yours).
Your anger is on the basis of an article (at least according to the link given here) in Amritapuri.org. Please don't take it as the 'gospel truth'.
I tried googlesearching for the news item reported elsewhere (in any mainstream paper), but could not find it. Send me a link if you have seen one. No newspaper would write a 'father' who accompanied Thirumeni.
Second, I am no one to judge anyone. Every man's way is right in his own eyes, but the LORD weighs the hearts.

As the bible says that in the last days there will be a great apostasy, so it is already happening. I would just add that what the bible says about what you do in secret will be told on the rooftops. This thirumeni is now showing his true colors. They excommunicate poor believers who go for prayer to other congregations but these acts are not condemned. Where sin abounds grace abounds all the more. This perhaps has to happen as a prelude of the reformation that is going to take place in the Mar Thoma Church.
